WIDENET Workpackages
As a result of our former dissemination activities, we have deployed
informations about a representative collection of the major commercially
available Hospital Information Systems on the present web site of PROREC-HU.
This information includes the description of the most important services
offered by these systems that cover a substantial part of the whole healthcare
IT arena in Hungary. Our intention is to resume the contacts with the vendors
and developers of these HIS systems in order to extract and compare their
recording functions and to initiate a homogeneity process among the different
data structures and contents.
Besides aiming at the compatibility of the various recording formats
and data representations used in the current local IT systems, this homogeneity
approach should further be guided with the inevitable application of CEN
EHCR and XML standards. One of the key factors in the success of our planned
activities is the involvement and the cooperation of the representatives
of the main healthcare providers (i.e. hospitals, GP's, etc.), as well
as those of the national healthcare bodies (Ministry of Health, National
Healthcare Insurance Administration, National and local Healthcare Associations,
etc.). Similar collaboration is envisaged from behalf of the Hungarian
Standardization Institute and the Software Accreditation Board.
We plan to be active mainly within the scope of Workpackages 3 and 4
with the help of the available resources.

Setting up working bodies with participation of all players (Ministry of
Health, National Health Insurance Administration, Chamber of Doctors, Hospital
Association, GP's Association, Medical/Biological Department of the John
von Neumann Informatics Society, Medical Universities) to promote the widespread
use of EHCR compliant solutions
-
Initiate the basis for the compulsory application of EHCR compliance accreditation
processes in the public tenders for the delivery of HealthCare software
systems
With reference to Angelo Mori's proposal, we are also ready to contribute
to activity S5 within WP5 with the preparation of the Hungarian part of
the multilingual database to facilitate the communication with foreign
patients. Additionally to the above we plan to participate in the yearly
coordination meetings of the WIDENET consortium.
